Musings of An Old Man

by Brian K. Moore

ANNIVERSARY 47

I LOOKED AROUND TO FIND A CARD
ALL FULL OF MUSH AND GOO.

FOR I WAS TRYING VERY HARD
TO SHOW MY SENTIMENT FOR YOU.

THERE WAS NO CARD THAT I COULD FIND
THAT REALLY DID EXPRESS

THE THOUGHTS THAT I HAD IN MY MIND
BOUT LOVE AND HAPPINESS.

AND ALTHOUGH I HAVE REALLY LOOKED
AT EACH CARD ON THE SHELF

IT SEEMS AS THOUGH MY GOOSE IS COOKED
IF I DON’T DO THIS JOB MYSELF.

SO PEN IN HAND AND PAPER READY
I TOAST THE FORTY SEVEN—
YEARS THAT WE’VE BEEN GONG STEADY

BETTER THAN IN HEAVEN.
