Musings of An Old Man

PHYLLIS HOSTS A PARTY

In late summer of 2008 Phyllis said that she would like to host another Kiwanis installation. This is a special Kiwanis dinner meeting where the following years officers and board members are installed. We had hosted these meetings frequently in the past. Our big covered patio is a great place for the meetings and the club members love to come here for the occasion.

We were all happy that Phyllis felt well enough and confident enough to want to do it.

The meeting went well. Phyllis made a typically good Phyllis type appearance. She talked to lots of people and although she was not as active as she had been in her younger days no one could have known from her beautiful, confident, poised appearance that she was 2 ½ months from death.

The disease that took her, Alzheimer’s, was kinder to her than it usually is to its victims, many of whom linger for years in a mental vacuum.

I will be hosting this years Kiwanis Installation here, partly for the good of the club and partly in honor of my dear, departed, beautiful Phyllis.

IT WON’T BE THE SAME!

NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME FOR ME!
